Community Engagement core of the Center for Clinical and Translational
Science and Training (CCTST) continues its speaker series from noon to 1
p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, in Medical Sciences Building Room 7051. Claudia
Baquet, MD, will present, "Engaging and Retaining Community and Minority
Populations in Clinical Research: Strategies and Opportunities.”
is associate dean for policy and planning, professor of medicine and
director of the Comprehensive Center for Health Disparities Research,
Outreach and Training, University of Maryland School of Medicine. She
will identify barriers and describe ways to engage minority populations
in clinical research, and discuss development of strategies for their
recruitment and retention.
Lunch and a panel
discussion will follow at 1 p.m., featuring a discussion on research
challenges, barriers and ethical issues related to recruiting and
retaining community and minority populations in clinical research.
