summer of 1941, the U.S. Army invited UC to organize the 25th General Hospital
to serve as a major medical facility in the European war theater. More than 600
physicians, surgeons, nurses and enlisted men served the 25th with distinction
in England, France and Belgium until the end of the war.

Center for the History of the Health Professions, located near the MSB’s Kresge
Circle entrance, now houses most of the 25th’s historical documents,
photographs and artifacts.
On Friday, Nov. 12, the
center will open a new exhibit about the 25th General Hospital in its Stanley
J. Lucas, MD, Board Room. The exhibit is the first of five projects the Winkler
Center has scheduled in the coming nine months to celebrate the 25th.
project will record oral histories of surviving veterans of the 25th. If you
