Baylor College of Medicine professor of pediatrics Steven Abrams, MD will speak on the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center campus June 6 and 7: From 3 to 4 p.m. Monday, June 6, Abrams will present a CCTST special seminar, "Malnutrition in Children in Developing Countries." He will provide an overview of the global scope of malnutrition in children and describe international efforts to address the problem using education and technology. The seminar will be held in CCHMC Location D, Room 2.46.
From 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, Abrams will present, "Vitamin D: A Cure for Rickets or a Cure
for Everything?" during pediatric grand rounds co-sponsored by the CCTST in CCHMC Location D, 5/3 Auditorium. He will describe new US guidelines for vitamin D in healthy infants and children; evaluate vitamin D status in children, including those with chronic illnesses; and discuss risks/possible benefits of high dose vitamin D therapy, and the limitations in current knowledge of vitamin D toxicity. Abrams is a member of the Institute of Medicine Committee to Review Dietary Reference Intakes for Vitamin D and Calcium. |
