The department of dermatology will host John Seykora, MD, as the Procter and Gamble Visiting Lecturer Feb. 9.
Seykora is associate professor of dermatology and pathology at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in Philadelphia and will present the lecture, "Modeling Skin Cancer with Src Kinases and Srcasm Yields Therapeutic Insights.”
He specializes in dermatopathology and cutaneous diseases which exhibit abnormal keratinocyte differentiation (e.g. neoplasia, psoriasis, and again). His research focuses on the mechanisms regulating tyrosine kinase signaling and the biological processes influenced by these signaling pathways. He also has developed new murine models of skin cancer and shown that Srcasm functions as an anti-oncogene in skin.
