|Webster Cavenee, PhD, distinguished professor at University of California at San Diego, will present, "Cell-intrinsic and Extrinsic Signaling in Human Brain Tumors."
Cavenee has made numerous contributions in the field of cancer genetics. He is most well-known for his work on retinoblastoma, carried out at UC College of Medicine, which confirmed the "two-hit hypothesis” for cancer development and also provided the evidence for the presence of tumor suppressor genes in cancer.
A member of the National Academy of Sciences, he is currently director of Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in San Diego.
