The Department of Dermatology will host James Grichnik, MD, PhD, as the Procter and Gamble Visiting Lecturer, on Thursday, Dec. 12. He will present, "Insights into the Pathogenesis of Melanoma."
Grichnik is professor of dermatology and cutaneous surgery at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is an expert in early detection of melanoma and serves as the director of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Melanoma Program. He also directs a world-class surveillance and detection clinic utilizing imaging technologies to allow for melanoma detection at early, more curable, stages.
Grichnik directs a research program within the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute at the University of Miami. His interests are focused on developmental pathways in cancer that may present new diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic targets.
