The Cincinnati Opera, the Department of Surgery and the Institute for Military Medicine will present "Lessons from the Trenches: How World War I Changed the Study and Practice of Medicine” Thursday, May 22, in Kresge Auditorium.
The event includes a panel discussion on the impact of World War I on the medical field, focusing on how warfare spurred major advances in medicine.
The discussion will be led by Michael Edwards, MD, Christian R. Holmes Professor and Chair of Surgery, and John Tew Jr., MD, professor of neurosurgery, radiology and surgery.
Additionally, tours of the surgical amphitheater will be available and a short program of WWI poetry and songs will be presented by Cincinnati Opera during a cocktail reception following the discussion.
