Description:

Ohio's next two-year budget will be submitted by the governor in January, debated by the Legislature in the spring and passed by June 30, 2009. The budget picture is bleak; however, efforts to enroll children may be accelerated under an Obama administration. In addition, the Federal SCHIP program will be reauthorized--or extended--in the spring. This forum will describe the effects of coverage expansions passed in the last budget sessions as well as key issues for the upcoming session.
Gerry Fairbrother, PhD, a professor with joint appointments in the divisions of epidemiology and biostatistics and health policy and clinical effectiveness at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, will be speaking. Fairbrother is a nationally-known researcher in health policy, and her work focuses on Medicaid, underserved populations and health care quality. |
