The dermatology department will host Thomas Ruenger, MD, PhD, of Boston University, as the Procter & Gamble Visiting Lecturer on Jan. 28.
Ruenger, a professor and vice chair of dermatology and professor of pathology and laboratory medicine, will discuss, “Roles of UVA in the Pathogenesis of Malignant Melanoma” at 10 a.m. in the Hoxworth Building’s Heaton Conference Center (Room G344). Ruenger specializes in photodermatology and dermato-oncology.
His current research focuses on characterizing the effects of ultraviolet light on skin cells, and involves investigations on DNA damage signaling, cell cycling, apoptosis, DNA repair and mutagenesis.
