Students learn about medical research from associate professor George "Chip" Shaw, III, MD, PhD, during their tour. Shaw's research focuses on trying to improve thrombolytic therapy for stroke using ultrasound--both ‘engineering’ the best ultrasound parameters to penetrate the skull and maximizing the current lytic treatment for stroke, tissue plasminogen activator.
