CINCINNATI—Hoxworth Blood Center announces an appeal for type O blood donors, Tuesday, Sept. 28, as blood supply for this particular type has dropped to a critical level.
Individuals with blood type O-positive or O-negative are urged to donate immediately.
Type O-negative is especially needed to maintain minimum inventory at 32-area hospitals served by Hoxworth blood donors.
"We have not seen the blood inventory get quite this low in some time,” says Ronald Sacher, MD, director of Hoxworth Blood Center. "As the stewards of the local blood supply, it is our responsibility to alert the public and request help in times of need.”
Hoxworth operates eight neighborhood donor centers in Anderson, Blue Ash, downtown, Ft. Mitchell, Mason, Tri-County, Western Hills and the Hoxworth Center adjacent to UC Health University Hospital. Walk-ins are welcome, however appointments are encouraged. Call (513) 451-0910 or visit www.hoxworth.org to schedule an appointment.
