There are few more bald heads around campus this week, after the annual St. Baldrick's fundraiser, held March 14 at O'Bryon's Irish Pub.
Organized locally by the College of Medicine pediatrics club, St. Baldrick's Day (named for "St. Patrick’s Day" and "bald") events are held worldwide to raise money for childhood cancer research.
With more than 30 students braving the clippers, the club raised just over $12,000 this year to support the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Since its founding, the foundation has funded more than $103 million in grants.
The shaving was done by both professional barbers from Shane Weber salon and faculty barbers, including Bruce Giffin, PhD, vice chair of medical education.
