Focus on Staff With Jennifer Ray

In March 2012, Jennifer Ray joined the College of Nursing staff as associate to the dean of nursing.

How she got here...

I came to UC in 2007 to obtain my undergraduate degree in organizational leadership/business. I graduated from UC in 2011, and then moved to a small town in Connecticut outside of New York City where I was a live-in nanny for two little girls. I loved the East Coast, but Cincinnati was calling me back. I missed the university and the city, and I was ready to have this opportunity at the college.

What she does...

My responsibilities are different on a day-to-day basis. I coordinate Dean Greer Glazerís schedule and travel plans, create agendas for meetings, type minutes for meetings, gather any information the dean may need for a meeting, respond to emails/phone calls, etc. It keeps me on my toes and I am learning a lot.

What awes her about the college...

I learned very quickly the drive and camaraderie the College of Nursing has. There are so many different projects and initiatives that are taking place, and everyone is so supportive. It is really neat to see the team effort that goes into making this college the best it can be, and I feel honored to be a part of it.

What she's learned about nursing...

Well, my sister is a RN so I have certainly learned a fair share of information regarding her experience on a medical/surgical floor (Iím not going to lieósome of the things I would prefer not knowing!) As far as what Iíve learned from the College of Nursing, Iím amazed at all of the opportunities a nursing degree can provide.

On a personal note Ö

I love to be outdoors, so I enjoy any activity I can do outside; walking, running, biking, hiking, swimming, the list goes on. I also enjoy working on my fitness at the gym with the help of a cardio machine/fitness class. I like to bake, try new food/restaurants, and travel (preferably to a beach). Spending time with my family, friends and my familyís dog, Charlie, trumps all!
