Informed Consent Expert Speaks at the UC Medical Center

Cincinnati—Paul Appelbaum, MD, A. F. Zeleznik Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry, chairman of the Department of Psychiatry, and director of the Law and Psychiatry Program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, will speak at the UC College of Medicine about "Informed Consent with Cognitively Impaired Research Subjects" on Tuesday, July 27 at 12:00 noon in the Medical Sciences Building, Room 7051.

Appelbaum is chair of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Ethics Appeals Board and a member of the APA joint subcommittee of the Council on Psychiatry and Research. He has written numerous articles and books on ethics in psychiatric research, and his research has focused on legal and ethical aspects of medical practice, including informed consent to medical research. His visit is being hosted by UC's Office of Clinical Trials.
