Mia Mallory, MD, has been named associate dean for diversity and inclusion at the College of Medicine.
Mallory, an associate professor of pediatrics, is returning to Cincinnati after two years as an emergency physician at Childrenís Healthcare of Atlanta. Previously, she served eight years as the associate residency director for pediatrics at Cincinnati Childrenís Hospital Medical Center.
In her new role, Mallory will be responsible for the development and implementation of plans and programs to recruit and retain a diverse community of faculty, students and staff within the college.
In addition to chairing the diversity council, she will work with the deanís office and departments to assure compliance with LCME and other applicable standards related to diversity and inclusion.
In a memo announcing the appointment, College of Medicine Dean Thomas Boat, MD, and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Andrew Filak Jr., MD, thanked Charles Collins, MD, for his work during his eight years in the associate dean position. Collins will return full time to his role as vice chair of the department of psychiatry and behavioral neuroscience.
