On Wednesday, Aug. 21, sophomore nursing students at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing opened their iPad minis and will never look back … at a nursing textbook.
That’s because the class of 198 students spent the day in iPad orientation—called iCon—where they began to acclimate to the college’s new technology-based curriculum.
Use of the iPad at the college changes the way content is delivered and created, and students can connect to apps that let them see content in ways not possible with traditional course material. For example, they can view animated hearts beating in 3-D and diagnose standardized patients via video. In addition, the college will use iBooks Author for the majority of lecture content delivery.
