Tristate Nurses Honored for Exceptional Care

CINCINNATIóThe University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Nursing honored 16 nurses at the 14th annual Florence Nightingale Awards, April 26, for their dedication and commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

 

Six nurses received the Florence Nightingale Award, named for the founder of modern nursing, and $1,000. Ten nurses received the Deanís Award and $400 each. Money for the awards is provided through sponsorships.

 

The winnersí residences are listed after their names. The recipients of the 2006 Nightingale Awards are:

  • Billie Addison (Groesbeck), the Deupree Community
  • Catherine Brug-Reeves (Cold Springs), St. Luke Hospitals
  • Teresa Merk (Harrison), Cincinnati Shriners Hospital
  • Homer Phillips (West Chester), Harmony Community School and Veteran Affairs Medical Center
  • Jonda Proffit (College Hill), Cincinnati Health Department
  • Mary Ann Roos (Cheviot), Cincinnati Health Department/James N. Gamble Elementary School

  • Deborah Dixon (Hamilton), Hillandale Communities
  • Vicki Estridge (Hamilton/Okeana), Jewish Hospital
  • Rosanna Fardo (Grants Lick, Ky.), Mercy Health Partners, Mt. Airy
  • Sandra Grau (Pierce Township), Patheon Pharmaceuticals
  • Zahida Ludwig (Ludlow), Good Samaritan Hospital
  • Cheryl Rush (Pleasant Ridge), Christ Hospital
  • Amy Scarlato (Bridgetown), Cincinnati Health Department/Chase Elementary School
