The North and Mid wings at Kettering Lab remain without normal power, Maintenance and Operations said today (Monday, Jan. 13, 2014), as a result of water damage to electrical equipment related to last week's frigid temperatures.
The damaged equipment cannot be repaired and will have to be replaced, which will take at least two weeks, officials said.
Repairs have been made to the emergency generator that is providing emergency lighting to the Mid-Wing. Work is also underway on temporary wiring that would remove the need for the portable generator parked on the east side of Kettering. Current plans call for that generator to be shut down at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Kettering Lab is home to the environmental health department.
