What: UC College of Medicine White Coat Ceremony
When: Friday, August 20 at 3:00 p.m.
Where: Kresge Auditorium located in the Medical Sciences Building, 231 Bethesda Avenue.
The College of Medicine sponsors the ceremony, and the Alumni
Association gives white coats to the incoming medical students as
gifts. The event is designed to instill the responsibility of providing
the best patient care to medical students.
The class of 2003 is comprised of a diverse group of students. Here are some examples:
was a recent finalist for the Miss Alabama-Miss USA pageant. "I have
wanted to be a doctor since I was five years old, and my mother was
pregnant with my sister," says Patterson. She earned a master's degree
in public health at the University of Alabama, before heading to the UC
College of Medicine. "I am comfortable with my career choice because I
will have the opportunity to impact lives," she says.
studied biology at the US Air Force Academy before heading home to
Cincinnati for medical school. "Following graduation, I went through a
selection process with the Air Force and was chosen to participate in a
program where the military pays for my medical school," says Linberg.
"After I graduate, I will fulfill a nine year commitment of being a
military doctor," he says. He grew up in Fairfield and is excited about
spending the next four years at home.
