Photo Opportunity UC College of Medicine White Coat Ceremony

What: UC College of Medicine White Coat Ceremony

When: Friday, August 20 at 3:00 p.m.

Where: Kresge Auditorium located in the Medical Sciences Building, 231 Bethesda Avenue.

Sponsored: The College of Medicine sponsors the ceremony, and the Alumni Association gives white coats to the incoming medical students as gifts. The event is designed to instill the responsibility of providing the best patient care to medical students.

The class of 2003 is comprised of a diverse group of students. Here are some examples:

Tamula Patterson was a recent finalist for the Miss Alabama-Miss USA pageant. "I have wanted to be a doctor since I was five years old, and my mother was pregnant with my sister," says Patterson. She earned a master's degree in public health at the University of Alabama, before heading to the UC College of Medicine. "I am comfortable with my career choice because I will have the opportunity to impact lives," she says.

Christopher Linberg studied biology at the US Air Force Academy before heading home to Cincinnati for medical school. "Following graduation, I went through a selection process with the Air Force and was chosen to participate in a program where the military pays for my medical school," says Linberg. "After I graduate, I will fulfill a nine year commitment of being a military doctor," he says. He grew up in Fairfield and is excited about spending the next four years at home.
