Portrait Honors Professor and Orthopaedic Surgeon Peter Stern, MD
To honor 35 years of service by Peter Stern, MD, to the University of Cincinnati (UC)ó22 of which he served as chair of the UC Department of Orthopaedic Surgeryóthe College of Medicine unveiled a portrait of Stern at a reception Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Cincinnatiís Queen City Club.
Stern, the Norman S. and Elizabeth C.A. Hill Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, is an internationally recognized hand surgeon who has held numerous national leadership positions in the field of orthopaedics, including past president of the American Orthopaedic Association, the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
In addition to delivering scores of visiting lectures and publishing nearly 200 peer-reviewed papers, Stern devoted his professional career to advancing education in orthopaedic and hand surgery by educating 55 fellows and over 100 orthopaedic residents.
Although Stern stepped down from his position as chair in late 2013, he remains on faculty at UC and continues to practice surgery at UC Health.
The Feb. 18 ceremony was attended by Sternís colleagues and representatives of UC Health. Also in attendance was Sternís wife of 43 years, Sandy, and his mother, Mary Stern.
