Technology Commercialization Workshop Series

UCís Technology Commercialization Accelerator, led by Dorothy Air, PhD, will host a series of workshops at the College of Medicine to offer interested faculty a chance to learn more about entrepreneurialism, technology development and pathways to commercialization.

Each hour-and-a-half session will offer attendees the chance to talk with the Acceleratorís Entrepreneurs in Residence and/or faculty inventors about the process of turning ideas into commercial potential.

Session 1: Overview of Commercialization

This session will share tips for getting started, myths about being an entrepreneur, success factors, managing roles (entrepreneur vs. faculty member) and available resources.

Session 2: Pathways to Development
Tuesday, July 1, 2014
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Medical Sciences Building, Room E-151
This session will help faculty learn to define opportunities and competitive edge and also offer information about establishing an intellectual property position and assessing market opportunity. Attendees will also hear about commercialization pathways, licensing vs. startups, and how to move things forward.

Session 3: Putting Your Idea on Path to Commercialization
Tuesday, August 5, 2014
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Medical Sciences Building, Room E-005h (Stanley Lucas Boardroom)
During this session, attendees will have the opportunity to share more about their own ideas and work to put a commercialization strategy around them. Attendees will also hear about what investors are seeking and learn how to apply to UCís Technology Commercialization Accelerator.
