CincinnatióJack L. Gluckman, MD, professor and chairman of the
Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of
Cincinnati College of Medicine, was elected president of the American
Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and its Foundation for
2000-2001. His election was announced at the organization's annual
meeting in New Orleans last month. Gluckman's term will begin September
24, 2000 at the Academy's next annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
in South Africa, Gluckman received his medical degree from the
University of Capetown and completed his residency training in
otolaryngology at Johannesburg General Hospital and Groote Schuur
Hospital in Capetown, South Africa. He started at UC Medical Center in
1977 and attained full professorship in 1985. In 1991, he became
department chairman, a position he presently holds. He is author of
eight textbooks and more than 250 scientific papers.
