CincinnatióJeffrey L. Susman, MD, has been appointed chair of the
Department of Family Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College
of Medicine. He began his term on November 1, 1999.
coming to UC, Susman served as a professor at the University of
Nebraska Department of Family Medicine. He was also the associate dean
for primary care and faculty development at the University of Nebraska
Medical Center, College of Medicine. After earning his undergraduate
degree at Dartmouth College, Susman received his medical degree from
Dartmouth Medical School in 1981. He did his residency at Lancaster
General Hospital in Pennsylvania. Post-graduate work includes a
fellowship in primary care at Michigan State University.
has received numerous awards and honors, such as the United States
Public Health Service Special Recognition Award, the Clinical Research
Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Charles
Bair Award for Outstanding Scholarly Activity at Lancaster General
Hospital. He has been published in various professional journals and
currently serves as editor of the AAFP Home Study Program. His research
interests include mental health services within primary care sectors
and changing physician behavior.
