Despite her numerous accomplishments, Mary Mahoney, MD, Benjamin Felson Endowed Chair and Professor in the Department of Radiology, is not one to pat herself on the back.
Mahoney says that each organization serves a slightly different role within the field of radiology.
"The ABR has a strong focus on training requirements and certification, the RSNA emphasizes education and research, and the ACR focuses primarily on policy and guidelines, she says. "This is a great way for me to have a part in the decision making that comes from each of the three respective organizations and each of their areas of focus within radiology.
Members of all three boards must be nominated by their peers.
"Im thrilled to take on this new role, Mahoney says. "This will give me even greater perspective and help me look at radiology from an all-encompassing standpoint. It is a terrific opportunity.
