Pro Volleyball Event Benefits Local Cancer Research and Patient Care

CINCINNATI—Although the beach is hundreds of miles away, Tristate residents can still experience the thrill of professional beach volleyball—while supporting a great cause—at the 2006 Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) Pro Beach Volleyball Cincinnati Open.

The tournament starts Thursday, Aug. 31, and continues through Sunday, Sept. 3, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, 5460 Courseview Dr., in Mason.

Ten percent of ticket sales from this year’s event will benefit cancer research and patient care programs at the University of Cincinnati (UC)/Barrett Cancer Center.

In addition to watching the athletes compete on eight courts, event organizers say fans can participate in interactive games and enjoy a “beach party” atmosphere.

Ticket prices range from $18 to $75 and can be purchased in advance at www.avp.com or by calling (800) 280-2330. VIP tickets include concession vouchers, free parking and access to a climate-controlled lounge with snacks.

For information supporting cancer research and education initiatives at UC, please contact the UC/Barrett Cancer Center Development Office at (513) 558-8624.
