Cincinnati--The University of Cincinnati (UC) Education and Research
Center announces the Second Annual Symposium featuring the Pilot
Research Project grant recipients. The UC Pilot Research Grants are
funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
(NIOSH). As one of the 15 Education and Research Centers funded by
NIOSH, UC established a program to support pilot research training
projects, to increase the research capacity of research trainees and
young investigators of occupational health and safety, and to encourage
those in related disciplines to pursue occupational health and safety
research. The UC Pilot Research Project Program is headed by Professor
Amit Bhattacharya, PhD, Department of Environmental Health.
year's symposium is scheduled to take place at the UC Kehoe Auditorium
(located in the Kettering Laboratory Building) on the East Campus on Oct. 11 and 12. Free and open to the public,
this symposium will include the research results from recipients of the
UC Pilot Research Training Grants for the past two years.
Education and Research Center includes Occupational Health and Safety
graduate education and research programs in the UC Colleges of
Medicine, Nursing and Engineering, and is directed by Scott Clark, PhD,
professor, Department of Environmental Health. Applicants from UC,
Purdue University, University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky
University were considered for these pilot research training grants.
The UC Pilot Research Project recently added Central State University,
Eastern Kentucky University, Kentucky State University and Murray State
University for future grant application consideration. One hour of
American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) credit can be given to
