Cincinnati--Estimates place the total number of health Web sites
between 20,000 and 30,000. NetWellness was among the 30 "best" consumer
health-information Web sites chosen by the online publication Forbes.com.
The Forbes review said the following about NetWellness:
"This
is the most reliable type of online resource for consumers: a nonprofit
site put together by health care faculty at three Ohio institutions:
the University of Cincinnati, Case Western Reserve University and Ohio
State University. From the easy-to-use home page you can look up basic
information on 75 conditions and diseases and browse recent stories
from newspapers and other lay sources. The Library offers an
illustrated encyclopedia and access to the Merck manuals. The Clinical
Trials section has the most thorough patient-rights information we've
seen in one place. Best of all, the Ask an Expert feature lets you
e-mail questions. A doctor, nurse or other health pro from one of three
sponsoring medical schools will give a detailed and easy-to-understand
response within three days. Before submitting the question, you can
browse pages of other Question & Answers."
NetWellness has answered more than 17,000 questions since 1995. Find answers to your medical questions online at NetWellness.org.
