Cincinnati--Jerri Nielsen, MD, breast cancer survivor, will talk
about how she was stranded at the South Pole when she found out that
she had breast cancer. Free and open to the public, Nielsenıs
presentation is a University of Cincinnati (UC) MainStreet Leadership
Lecture and is co-sponsored by UC Student Organizations &
Activities; UC Wellness Center; UC Womenıs Center; Office of the Senior
Vice President and Provost for Health Affairs; Just Community and the
UC Alumni Association.
A limited number of autographed copies of
her book will be for sale after she tells about her battle with breast
cancer while stranded at the South Pole. Nielsen described her
situation: "No one could get in or go out. I was the only medical
doctor at the research facility when I discovered I had cancer."
presentations will be given on Monday, Oct. 22 from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30
p.m., Kresge Auditorium, UC College of Medicine and from 3:30 p.m. - 5
p.m. at the West Campus Event Pavilion (across from the UC Bookstore).
