"Internet Health Ratings Systems: Knowledge vs. Babel" Published in Recent JAMA
Cincinnati--Roger Guard, director of Academic Information Technology
and Libraries at the University of Cincinnati (UC) Medical Center,
coauthored a letter to the editor published in the August 26 issue of
the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) after an article regarding the quality of health information on the Internet appeared in JAMA.
Guard began UCís NetWellness, a web-based consumer health information
service. Netwellness is a founding member of the Health Summit Working
Group that drafted the "Criteria for Assessing the Quality of Health
Information on the Internet" with guidelines for quality assurance of
internet information for health consumers.
