Creaghead Elected President of ASHA

Cincinnati--Nancy Creaghead, PhD, professor and head of the University of Cincinnati Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, College of Allied Health Sciences, has been elected president-elect of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) for 2001. She takes office as president in 2002. ASHA represents approximately 101,000 members and is the national professional association for speech-language pathologists and audiologists and speech and hearing scientists.

Creaghead has been a member for 30 years and has served in numerous capacities, including providing over 275 workshops, presentations and publications for continuing education and research dissemination. She recently represented ASHA at a White House Summit on Early Childhood Cognitive Development, "Ready to Read, Ready to Learn." More than 400 government, education, community and philanthropic leaders from across the country gathered to discuss how to best prepare children to learn in school. She met with President Bush and the first lady during a reception.
