Barrett Cancer Center Receives $20,000 from Western & Southern Foundation

Cincinnati--The Western & Southern Foundation, a nonprofit organization designed and funded by Western & Southern Financial Group, has made a $20,000 donation to The Barrett Cancer Center at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The donation was made in conjunction with Western & Southern Financial Group's "Strike Out Cancer" radio promotion on 700 WLW's Reds on Radio broadcasts. This is the second-consecutive year the foundation has made a $20,000 donation through the program. A check presentation for the gift will be made tonight at 6:15 p.m., before tonight's Reds' home game, live on 700 WLW.

"With the support of organizations such as the Western & Southern Foundation and the cooperation of a broad range of academic and clinical resources, the Barrett Cancer Center, the cornerstone of UC Cancer Programs, provides healing and discovery through research and hope for all in our community suffering the ravages of cancer," said Cecilia Fenoglio-Preiser, MD, director of the Barrett Cancer Center.

The Barrett Cancer Center is committed to discovering new approaches in cancer prevention, detection and treatment and to providing the finest care available in the Tri-state region. To continue its fight against cancer, The Barrett Cancer Center relies on the financial support of individuals, corporations, foundations and the community. Contributors support research projects, allowing physicians and scientists to investigate and identify the causes and treatments of cancer. State-of-the-art facilities and equipment are also obtained and maintained through gifts. Furthermore, donations enhance educational resources and cancer awareness programs that can help decrease the incidence of cancer.
