UC Faculty Serve Nationally to Advance Pharmacy

Cincinnati--This is National Pharmacy Week. The American Pharmaceutical Association established this national observance in 1925 as a way to promote the value of pharmacy services and recognize the health professional expertise of pharmacists.

The University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Pharmacy has been training and educating pharmacists for more than 150 years. In addition to conducting research and educating the next generation of pharmacists, the members of the faculty of the UC College of Pharmacy serve on many national scientific research and health review boards and committees.

"Our faculty serve on some of the most prestigious and influential scientific groups in the country," said Daniel Acosta, Jr., PhD, dean of the College of Pharmacy. "They are among a select few who are asked to donate time and professional guidance for such activities as evaluating research grants, planning for the future of pharmacy education and reviewing articles for professional journals."

Dean Acosta was recently named chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Food and Drug Administration National Center for Toxicology Research. Dr. Acosta also serves on the following boards and committees: Board of Scientific Advisors for the Environmental Protection Agency; Advisory Committee of the National Center for Environmental Health of the Centers for Disease Control.
