Cincinnati--University of Cincinnati Medical Centerís Department of
Psychiatry is looking for volunteers who are 18 years of age or older
and have experienced at least six panic attacks in the last month.
Panic attacks consist of periods of intense fear in which individuals
suffer from at least four of the following symptoms: increased heart
rate or chest pain, sweating, shortness of breath, feelings of choking,
chills or hot flashes, shaking, nausea, dizziness or lightheadedness,
feeling that things are unreal, fear of losing control or going crazy,
fear of dying, and numbness or tingling.
The study will test a medication that may reduce the occurrence of
panic attacks in individuals. Qualified patients will receive
medication or a placebo and have free medical monitoring. They will
also receive compensation for their time and travel. For more information, contact (513) 558-5109.
