UC Postdoctoral Scholars Win Honors at Research Forum

Cincinnati--Eight postdoctoral scholars from the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine and Childrenís Hospital Medical Center won awards for their posters presented at the Second Annual Postdoctoral Scholars Research Forum held on November 18 at the College of Medicine.

First place winners were Alison Crowe, PhD, molecular genetics, biochemistry, and microbiology; and Vivek Kadambi, PhD, pharmacology and cell biophysics. Second place honors went to William Esler, PhD, pharmacology and cell biophysics; David Kingsbury, MD, Childrenís Hospital Medical Center; and Karen Knudsen, PhD, cell biology, neurobiology, and anatomy. Honorable mentions were given to Guoxiang Chu, PhD, pharmacology and cell biophysics; Jo El J. Schultz, PhD, molecular genetics, biochemistry, and microbiology; and Jay Slack, PhD, molecular genetics, biochemistry, and microbiology.

Overall, 28 local postdoctoral students participated in the forum, sponsored by the Office of Research and Graduate Education at the College of Medicine. Oliver Sacks, MD, presented the keynote address titled "Alzheimerís and the Preservation of Self."
