Fourth Annual Research Symposium of Occupational Health and Safety
UC announces the Fourth Annual Symposium featuring the Occupational Health and Safety Pilot Research Project grant recipients. The UC Pilot Research Grants are funded from their Occupational Health and Safety Education and Research Center which is supported by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
As one of the 16 Education and Research Centers funded by NIOSH, UC established a program to support pilot research training projects to increase the research capacity of research trainees and young investigators of occupational health and safety, and to encourage those in related disciplines to pursue occupational health and safety research. The UC Pilot Research Project Program is headed by Professor Amit Bhattacharya, PhD, Department of Environmental Health. This year's symposium is scheduled to take place at the UC Kehoe Auditorium (located in the Kettering Laboratory Building) on the East Campus on October 16 & 17 with Dr. John Howard, Director of NIOSH. Free and open to the public, this symposium will include the research results from recipients of the UC Pilot Research Training Grants for the past two years.
The UC Education and Research Center includes Occupational Health and Safety graduate education and research programs in the UC colleges of medicine, nursing and engineering, and is directed by Scott Clark, PhD, professor, Department of Environmental Health. Applicants from UC, Purdue University, University of Kentucky, Western Kentucky University, Central State University, Eastern Kentucky University, Kentucky State University and Murray State University were considered for these pilot research training grants.
One and one-half hours of American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) credit can be given to symposium attendees. For more information or to register for this symposium, please contact Karen Brackemyre, Education and Research Center coordinator at (513) 558-5710.
