The UC College of Medicine will welcome 161 new medical students by presenting them with white coats Friday, Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium.
The White Coat Ceremony will include opening remarks by William Martin II, MD, dean of the UC College of Medicine, and a keynote address by Eric Warm, MD, assistant professor of medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine. Laura Wexler, MD, associate dean for Student Affairs and Admissions will introduce the members of the entering class. Andrew Filak, MD, associate dean for Medical Education, professor of family medicine, and the recent recipient of the Educator of the Year Award by the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians, will make closing remarks at the ceremony.
“I wear the white coat as a symbol of the profession and of the professionalism that the practice of medicine embodies,” said Dr. Filak. “I believe it lets patients know that I take my role as a physician seriously and wear the white coat as a symbol of respect for those who entrust the care of themselves and their families to me.”
