CINCINNATI—The University of Cincinnati (UC) and West Virginia University (WVU) will rival each other on the basketball court Thursday, Feb. 26, and they will continue the competition off-court through March 23 in a contest that will raise funds for cancer care.
The two schools have challenged each other to “Penny Wars”—with the goal of collecting loose change to benefit patient care at the UC Barrett Cancer Institute at University Hospital and the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center at WVU.
UC kicks off its Penny Wars effort Thursday, Feb. 26, during the basketball match-up with WVU. Fans are encouraged to donate that evening, or until March 23 at any one of the area’s 14 participating Huntington Bank branches.
UC expects that student organizations will also host events or donate to the proceeds.
The Penny Wars competition is supported by the participating institutions and their respective foundation offices.
