Saks Fifth Avenue has raised $14,192 for the UC Cancer Center and the Barrett Cancer Center during its annual Key to the Cure campaign.
The Saks Shopping Weekend, during which Saks' downtown store donated 2 percent of all sales to UC and the Barrett Center, realized $13,144. Saks employees contributed the rest.
"The generosity that Saks Fifth Avenue and its employees have shown to UC year after year is greatly appreciated," says Ronald Sacher, MD, interim dean of the UC College of Medicine. "We are honored to accept this thoughtful donation."
Saks Fifth Avenue launched its original Fashion Targets Breast Cancer shopping weekend nationwide in 1999, and in 2003 introduced the Key to the Cure campaign to fight all cancers affecting women, including ovarian, cervical, uterine and breast cancer.
