Parking Spaces Available in Goodman Garage
Beginning Jan. 1, additional parking spaces in the Goodman Garage will become available to University of Cincinnati and UC Physicians employees. The monthly charge is $87 per space. The UC-owned garage is located in front of University Hospital on Goodman Street and has been managed by University Hospital. With the new year, UC parking services will manage the facility as hospital employees who had been parking there will move to a new garage operated by the Health Alliance and Cincinnati Childrenís Hospital Medical Center on Burnet Avenue. Sunflower Revolution Funds Parkinsonís Projects
Three UC faculty members have received grants totaling $153,000 for research into Parkinsonís disease. The funding was provided by the University Hospital Foundation. Kim Seroogy, PhD, professor of neurology, received $53,000 to study the effects of exercise therapy on stress-induced depression in animal models of Parkinsonís. Tim Collier, PhD, professor of neurology, received $50,000 to investigate the ability of antidepressants to protect dopamine neurons that are lost in the disease in an animal model of Parkinsonís. Caryl Sortwell, PhD, associate professor of neurology, received $50,000 to study the mechanism that may underlie some of the therapeutic benefits of deep brain stimulation in patients with Parkinsonís disease.

Cincinnati Shriners Wins Customer Service Award
Shriners Hospitals for ChildrenĖCincinnati has been named a 2008 Summit Award winner by Press Ganey, a nationally recognized company that partners with health care facilities to measure the level of customer satisfaction and improve their quality of health care delivery. The Summit Award recognizes top-performing facilities that sustain the highest level of customer satisfaction for three or more consecutive years. Cincinnati Shriners was the only hospital in southwest Ohio to win this customer service award.
