UCNI to Host Vasospasm Conference
The UC Neuroscience Institute has been named host of the 11th International Vasospasm Conference, to be held July 2123, 2011. Specialists from approximately 15 nations are expected to attend. Mario Zuccarello, MD, professor and interim chair of neurosurgery and a Mayfield Clinic neurosurgeon, is the organizing committee chair of the event. Joe Clark, PhD, professor of neurology, is co-chair.


Mahoney Named Society Fellow
Mary Mahoney, MD, has been elected a fellow in the Society of Breast Imaging. Fellowship is based on outstanding contributions and services to breast imaging. As an active fellow, Mahoney now is able to further participate in workings of the society, which include improving the practice of breast imaging, enhancing the quality of breast imaging education and providing a medium for the exchange of ideas among those involved in breast imaging. Mahoney serves as director of breast imaging at the UC Barrett Cancer Institute at University Hospital and a professor of radiology at the College of Medicine.


Telomeres Seminar Jan. 5
The molecular genetics, biochemistry and microbiology department will present a seminar with Carolyn Price, PhD, at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, in Medical Sciences Building Room 3051. Price is a professor of cancer and cell biology at UC. Her topic is "Telomeres, Telomeres and More Telomeres! The seminar is co-sponsored by the Midwest Integrative Technology Center for Existing and Emerging Infectious Diseases (MIT-CEEID). For details, contact Peter Stambrook, PhD, at
