Out of the Crossfire Receives $45,500 Grant

Out of the Crossfire, Inc. has received a $45,500 grant from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation to fund its hospital-based, violence intervention program at UC Health University Hospital.

As one of only nine hospital-based, violence intervention programs in the nation, the program offers case management and rehabilitation services, working with more than 1,200 victims of violent injuries at University Hospital since its inception in 2006.

The GCF grant will be used to add two full-time Intervention/Outreach Specialists. The specialists mentor and counsel clients through the voluntary program, helping them address the mental, physical, economic, spiritual and emotional trauma that accompanies violent injuries.

"These individuals are crucial to the effectiveness of our program, as they are the first point of contact with our clients,” says Out of the Crossfire executive director Jennifer Williams, EdD. "There is no doubt that adding to our staff will increase the number of clients we reach as well as improve the quality of services we provide.”
