The Health Alliance board of directors recently voted to begin conducting business Sept. 1 as UC Health. During the coming weeks, there will be increasing signs of activity within the university’s health system.
"This is an exciting time for the University of Cincinnati and everyone associated with UC Health,” says UC President Gregory Williams, PhD. "The UC Health name soon will be seen widely and will usher in a new era in health care for our region. We are the area’s only academic health system and are the only health system that can bring discovery-driven medicine to our community.”
On Sept. 1, all e-mail addresses for health system employees switched to an @uchealth.com extension in place of the previous @healthall.com extensions. University of Cincinnati Physicians email addresses will continue to use the @ucphysicians.com extension.
New white, red and black kiosk signs with the UC Health logo have begun appearing around the UC medical campus. University of Cincinnati Physicians office locations throughout the region also are being dressed in new UC Health signage. All signs will be consistent in style and format and will include the UC Health logo, linking together nearly 30 patient care locations.
New signage at the West Chester Medical Center will not only utilize the UC Health name and colors but also will display a new name for the facility, which will now be known as West Chester Hospital. The name change was approved by the Health Alliance board in late August and is intended to eliminate any confusion that the facility, which opened in May 2009, is a fully functioning hospital.
Additionally, by early next year a large UC Health logo will be mounted near the roofline of University Hospital facing Martin Luther King Drive, replacing the current University Hospital sign.
Advertisements further introducing the UC Health name and highlighting some of its key service lines will begin hitting airwaves this month. Commercials will air on local television and radio stations in addition to print ads appearing in local newspapers and magazines. Ads also will be seen on the Internet and at UC athletics fall and winter sporting events.
All advertisements will feature the tagline "Everything we know. For you.”
"This is one more way the University of Cincinnati will be very visible throughout the region and show the extraordinary range of how the university can transform and positively affect people’s lives,” says Greg Vehr, vice president for governmental relations and university communications.
New websites for the health system and hospitals also have been launched and a new University of Cincinnati Physicians site is in development.
The UC Health website, which officially went live on Sept. 1, can be found at uchealth.com.
