What's Happening at the MSB?

Published May 2003

The recent closing of the Medical Sciences Building (MSB) garage was the first visible change in the MSB. The renovation, planned to take place in three phases, will provide the UC Medical Center with one of the largest health science research complexes in the country.

The renovation of the MSB brings with it a new Center for Academic Research Excellence (CARE). The CARE building, located immediately west of the MSB, will house laboratory research and teaching space. This facility will serve as the main entrance to the MSB and will be connected via a glass atrium.

Sketches of the future look of the MSB and CARE expansion tell a tale of a state-of-the-art facility designed to be inviting to the general public as well as faculty, staff, and students.
