Deaton Selected for Geriatric Program

Published July 2003

Lois L. Deaton, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UC, has been selected to participate in the Geriatrics Education for Specialty Residents (GESR) Program. The GESR program is part of the American Geriatric Society (AGS)/Hartford Foundation funded project: Increasing Geriatrics Expertise in Surgical and Related Medical Specialties. Gregg Warshaw, MD, professor in the UC Department of Family Medicine and director of the Office of Geriatric Medicine, is the participating geriatrician.

The GESR initiative supports curricular innovations at individual institutions by providing a two-year grant of $32,000 to support specialty-specific programs designed to increase education for residents in the geriatric aspect of their disciplines.
