Ann Jillian to Speak at Cancer Research Fundraiser
Published July 2003
The Barrett Cancer Center at the UC Medical Center and Saks Fifth Avenue are teaming up for the third-consecutive year in the fight against breast cancer. In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Saks Fifth Avenue and The Barrett Cancer Center will host a charity shopping weekend called Key to the Cure. Saks will donate two percent of all sales from September 17-20, 2003 to UC Cancer Programs/The Barrett Cancer Center to support breast cancer research at UC. Last year's event raised $26,772.
To kick off the weekend, UC Cancer Programs/The Barrett Cancer Center will host the "Think Pink 2003" luncheon on September 17. Three-time Emmy nominee and Golden Globe Award winning actress, singer and motivational speaker, Ann Jillian, will be the guest speaker at this year's luncheon. The 2002 luncheon raised $43,000. Eileen Barrett and Rhonda Sheakley are serving as co-chairs for the "Think Pink 2003" luncheon. The focus of this event is to raise necessary funds to support breast cancer research at UC Cancer Programs/The Barrett Cancer Center through education and awareness. Sponsorships for the event are now available. For more information about "Think Pink 2003," please contact Linda Karr at 558-3879.
