Pharmacy Students Give Back

Published May 2004

Students groups in the College of Pharmacy are involved in many outreach activities, helping those in need in the Tri-State. This past year, the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP) participated in a stuffed animal drive. Student and staff donations topped 130 stuffed animals, which were then donated to the Care House in Dayton, Ohio, an organization caring for children who have suffered domestic violence.

"This was our first year doing the stuffed animal drive, and I wasn't sure what to expect," said Terrence "Brad" Baugh, SSHP Community Activities chair. "I am very proud of our school for its support for this cause and hope that we continue to show that the College of Pharmacy cares enough to give back to the community in such tremendous ways."

This month, SSHP will sponsor an asthma clinic for World Asthma Day. Pharmacy students and faculty will use this venue to teach the public about proper inhaler techniques to improve patient control of asthma.
