University Air Care Celebrates 20th Anniversary
Published December 2004
University Air Care celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The
helicopter ambulance was established in November 1984 to provide rapid
critical care transport to the community and to assist other regional
health care providers, including hospitals and EMS services.
When a patient's condition demands critical care during transport, or
when distance, inaccessible locations or road conditions prevent timely
care and transport, Air Care is there to help. Since its inception, it
has made more than 22,000 patient care flights. Service was recently
improved by adding a remote base at University Pointe in West Chester
to better serve the Butler and Warren county communities. Air Care
continues to be a strong recruitment draw and a valued component of the
training program for Department of Emergency Medicine residents.
