Donna Shalala, former secretary of the
Department of Health and Human Services and now president of the
University of Miami, will open the annual meeting of the American
Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, to be held in Cincinnati July 9Ð13.
Jane E. Henney, MD, UC's senior vice president and provost for health affairs, will moderate at the closing plenary session.
UC faculty members will have significant
roles in the event. Randy Seeley, PhD, professor of psychiatry, and
Michael Doherty, PharmD, assistant professor of clinical pharmacy
practice, will participate in a panel discussion on challenges in
treating diabetes, and Shauna Buring, PharmD, assistant professor of
clinical pharmacy practice, will discuss quality improvement
initiatives under way at UC's College of Pharmacy.
Other pharmacy faculty contributors
include William Fant, PharmD, assistant dean for clinical and external
affairs, and Andrea Wall, RPh, assistant professor of pharmacy practice.
The theme of this year's meeting, at the
Hyatt Regency and Hilton Netherland Plaza hotels in downtown
Cincinnati, will be "Building Bridges to Quality."
