Nursing Educator Honored

Published June 2005

Described by colleagues as a "consummate educator," Linda Baas, PhD, has received the national Excellence in Education Award from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. A professor in the College of Nursing, Dr. Baas was honored for her outstanding contributions as a mentor, role model and educator to hundreds of critical-care practitioners, educators and scientists.

Dr. Baas has published more than 20 articles in major journals and received thousands of dollars in research funding. She serves on national boards, reviews grants for professional organizations and is a national speaker.

"The image that comes to mind when you see Dr. Baas teach," one of her nominators wrote, "is that of a beautiful tapestry. Her teaching is woven with enthusiasm, wit and the most up-to-date knowledge."
