Kenneth Davis Jr., MD, recently received the Health Improvement Collaborative's (HIC) Volunteer Leadership Award for his efforts to recruit minority physicians to the Greater Cincinnati region.
Davis accepted the honor at the group's annual awards banquet held Nov. 8 at the Westin Cincinnati.
The award is given annually to an individual who donates significant time and energy to furthering the mission of HIC.
A member of HIC's recruitment and retention of African-American physicians committee, Davis was recognized for his exceptional efforts in opening doors for minority students.
In his role as professor and vice chair for faculty development and diversity in UC's surgery department, Davis also regularly visits schools to encourage minority students to consider medical careers.
